FoggyBlocks is an innovative cross-platform spatial strategy and territory control game.
Combining dynamic polyomino shape composition, corner-placement tactics, and an
unpredictable fog of war, FoggyBlocks challenges players to out-think and out-maneuver
their rivals on a shared grid.
1. Core Gameplay & Rules
- Shape Composition: Players design custom polyomino shapes from
their available blocks before and during the match.
- Corner-to-Corner Placement: Every placed shape must touch at least
one corner of your own previously placed shapes. Edge-to-edge contact between shapes
of the SAME player is strictly forbidden, though edge contact against OPPONENTS is
permitted.
- Dynamic Fog of War: The board is blanketed in a shifting fog of
war. Only squares within the visibility radius of your placed pieces are revealed.
Strategic placement uncovers enemy maneuvers while shielding your own territory.
- Victory Condition: The game alternates turns until neither player
can make a legal placement. The last player able to place a shape wins the match.
2. Game Modes
- Single Player vs. AI: Practice tactics offline against intelligent
AI opponents across Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulties.
- Online Multiplayer: Jump into instant matchmaking or host private
rooms with real-time WebSocket synchronization.
- Friend Rivalries & Stats: Add friends, track head-to-head match
histories, and compete in ongoing rivalries.
3. Cross-Platform Availability & Downloads
FoggyBlocks is built using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform, delivering an
identical high-performance tactical experience across web, mobile, and desktop
environments. You can install the native versions directly from the web:
Android Installation:
- Download
foggyblocks-release.apk via the direct link above.
- Open the downloaded
.apk file in your notification tray or file
manager.
- If prompted, allow your browser to "Install unknown apps".
- Tap Install to start playing!
Desktop Launch Instructions:
- Download
foggyblocks-desktop.jar via the direct link above.
- Ensure Java 17+ is installed (e.g. OpenJDK, Temurin).
- Double-click the
.jar file or run in terminal: java -jar
foggyblocks-desktop.jar

4. Privacy & Fair Play
- Instant Anonymous Play: Start playing immediately with an anonymous
device identifier. No registration or password required.
- Optional Cross-Device Sync: Securely connect your Google account
via OAuth to synchronize your profile and avatar.
- Respectful Privacy: No third-party advertising networks, behavioral
tracking, or data brokering.
